I know a lot of writers say they don’t like 3 star reviews, but honestly, those are the ones I read. I read the 4 & 5s too. But, the 3 star reviews are usually more honest and clear. (When well written that is…)

Same here, Susan. I think readers can tell when a review is by someone who hasn’t really read the book. If a reader is going to bother to read the review, that means they’ll read all of it and get a sense of whether THEY would like it or not, regardless of the number of stars…otherwise, there would only be a star system.

Wonderful post, Kellyann as usual. So on the button, and to the point. I know there’s been a hoo haa recently about reviews being ‘fudged’ to make the book go up in rankings. But you know what? Call me a purist and even a nitwit but I’d rather have an honest review from someone who read it and hopefully appreciated it enough to leave a review, no matter how many stars. I’m with you on that one – sometimes people just don’t enjoy reading ‘your’ type of story but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it.
